Bengaluru’s railway infrastructure is receiving a significant boost as nine major stations undergo phased redevelopment under the Centre’s Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. The Ministry of Railways has identified Bangalore Cantonment, Krantivira Sangolli Rayanna (KSR Bengaluru), Yesvantpur, Malleswaram, Whitefield, Krishnarajapuram, Kengeri, Channasandra, and Dodballapur for redevelopment. South Western Railway received an allocation of ₹572 crore for 2025–26, with ₹468 crore already spent by December 2025 on the ongoing works.
The redevelopment includes wider foot overbridges, air concourses, upgraded waiting halls, improved toilets, lifts, escalators, Divyangjan-friendly infrastructure, parking facilities, executive lounges, landscaping, and kiosks under the ‘One Station One Product’ initiative. These upgrades are designed to improve passenger comfort while supporting seamless multimodal transport integration.
Yesvantpur has completed major civil works on its east-side arrival plaza, elevated road, and multi-level parking, while finishing work continues on the west-side station building. Whitefield has added parking improvements, platform shelters, and a ladies’ waiting hall, with more facilities under construction. Authorities said projects are progressing in phases, although no fixed completion timeline has been announced due to operational and statutory challenges.
