The government is evaluating Harohalli, Somanahalli, Chudahalli, and the Nelamangala–Kunigal corridor for the new airport. Among these, Harohalli, Somanahalli, and Chudahalli in South Bengaluru have emerged as the strongest contenders due to lower land acquisition requirements, suitable terrain, and the potential to drive infrastructure development in the region.
A Singapore-based consultancy is conducting the technical feasibility study, while KPMG is preparing the financial viability report. Once these reports are completed, the Karnataka government will finalize the preferred location and submit the proposal to the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and the Union Government for approval.
